About Us
Creative Differences Americana Music plays acoustic versions of Roots Rock, American Folk, Country, and Singer-Songwriter selections from the 50s to today, as well as original songs in the Americana tradition. Their performances feature creative acoustic techniques and a variety of instruments. They play some original songs, but their focus is on tunes audiences know and love. Their goal is to provide engaging and moving music experiences to audiences and to inspire the appreciation of traditional and contemporary Americana music. Mike plays guitar and sings lead while Pat sings harmonies and plays ukulele, banjolele, flute, melodica, dulcimer, harmonica, and keytar to round out their unique sound. Mike and Pat met and married in college and have been making music together ever since.

Mike
Mike began playing guitar when he was 14, and has been influenced by the roots rock music of the 60s and 70s, as well as acoustic singer-songwriters of the last 50 years. He has always been a fan of musicians who tell a great story or bring out strong emotions through their songs. Today's singer-songwriters are proving to be just as talented as the greats of earlier eras. Mike loves learning and sharing the history of how songs were created and about the artists who wrote them. He periodically writes original songs, but mostly enjoys playing music that audience members know and love. His influences range from old time artists such as Woody Guthrie and the Carter Family, to great singer songwriters such as John Prine, Guy Clark, Nanci Griffith, Kris Kristofferson, Steve Goodman, Chris Stapleton, and many others. He also enjoys many of the legendary roots rock bands, such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Band, and The Marshal Tucker Band. |

Pat
Pat is a native of East TN, and began playing both piano and flute as a young person. She has many happy memories of piano recitals and marching band during those early years. After a career in Information Systems, she returned to her first love of making music and took up additional instruments, each offering different features and opportunities that help present a variety of musical sounds and styles. She loves discovering songs, old and new, that can be re-imagined for the duo. Not surprisingly, they run into Creative Differences when determining how best to incorporate the new selections. They always manage to work things out! |
